Shrimp

  • 450g large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • Remoulade Sauce

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon sweet relish
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Ingredients

  • French bread loaves
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Sliced dill pickles
  • Instructions
    1. In a bowl, marinate shrimp in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes.
    2. In a separate bowl, combine flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
    3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or skillet to 350°F (175°C).
    4. Dredge each shrimp in the seasoned flour mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
    5. Fry the shrimp in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Remove and drain on paper towels.
    6. To make the remoulade sauce. In a bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, hot sauce, sweet relish, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, hot smoked paprika (if using), salt, and black pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste. Set aside.
    7. Slice the French bread loaves lengthwise without completely separating the halves. Spread a generous amount of remoulade sauce on both sides of the bread.
    8. Layer shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and dill pickles on one side of the bread. Arrange the crispy fried shrimp on top of the vegetables. Close the sandwich and press gently.
    9. Slice the Po' Boy into individual servings.
    10. Serve the Shrimp Po' Boy immediately, and enjoy the delicious flavors of this classic New Orleans sandwich!
