Gulab Jamun
Description

Sugar Syrup
Prepare Sugar Syrup
- In a pan, combine sugar and water for the syrup. Bring it to a boil, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Add cardamom powder, saffron strands and rose water (if using). Simmer for 5-7 minutes until it forms a slightly sticky syrup. Set aside.
Prepare the Gulab Jamun
- In a large mixing bowl add all-purpose flour, ghee, and a pinch of baking soda to the along with the milk powder. Mix well.
- Gradually add milk, little by little, and knead the mixture into a soft dough. Ensure it's not too sticky.
- Divide the dough into small, smooth balls, ensuring there are no cracks. If needed, apply a little ghee to your hands to prevent sticking.
- Heat oil in a pan for frying. The temperature should be medium-low.
- Fry the gulab jamun balls on low heat until they turn golden brown, ensuring they cook evenly.
- Remove the fried jamuns from the oil and drain excess oil.
- Immerse the hot jamuns into the prepared sugar syrup. Let them soak for at least 1-2 hours to absorb the flavours.
- Serve Gulab Jamun warm or at room temperature.
