Description

Chicken Tikka, a culinary gem from Indian cuisine, tantalizes taste buds with its vibrant flavors and succulent texture. Marinade

  • 500g boneless chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Instructions
    1. Skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes (if using wooden skewers)
    2. In a bowl, mix together yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, ground cumin, ground coriander, salt, and vegetable oil to make the marinade.
    3. Add the chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for better flavour.
    4. Stove Top Method: Bring a pan to a medium-high heat and add a good portion of oil or ghee some ghee or oil. cook the chicken pieces without crowding the pan in seperate batches. Remove from pan and drain off any excess oil.
    5. Oven Method: If using an oven, preheat the oven to the highest temperature (usually around 475°F or 245°C). Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the skewers. Grill the chicken skewers for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has a slight char. If using an oven, place the skewers on a baking sheet and bake. During cooking, brush the chicken with a little vegetable oil to keep it moist and enhance the flavours.
    6. Garnish (Optional): Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve with lemon wedges and mint chutney.
    7. Chicken Tikka is perfect as an appetiser or as a main course served with naan or rice. Enjoy the smoky, flavourful goodness of this classic Indian dish!
