Chana Masala Curry is a delectable Indian dish that elevates humble chickpeas into a flavor-packed sensation. Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons ghee or olive iol
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 large onion (chopped)
  • 2-4 chopped tomatoes (alternatively 1 tin tomatoes)
  • 2 teaspoons ginger (crushed)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic (crushed)
  • 1 green chilli (chopped, optional)
  • 2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 2 cups cooked chickpeas (2 cans, drained and rinsed)
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt (to taste).
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
  • Instructions
    1. Heat oil/ghee in a pan to a medium/high heat. Add chopped onions and cumin seeds and sauté for 4-6 minutes.
    2. Add ginger, garlic, and chopped green chilli. Sauté for 2 minutes, until the raw smell disappears.
    3. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft. Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, ground cumin, and ground coriander, Stir well.
    4. Add cooked chickpeas and salt to the pan with 1 cup of water and coconut milk(optional). Mix them well with the spice mixture.
    5. Let the chickpeas simmer in the spice mixture for 10-15 minutes to absorb the flavours.
    6. Mix in the garam masala and adjust salt and spice levels according to your taste.
    7. Serve hot with rice, naan, or your favourite Indian bread. Garnished with fresh coriander leaves.
