Sushi
Description
A traditional Japanese dish that can have a vast array of different meat and vegetable fillings, sushi is much loved the world over.
The main component of sushi that is consistent across its many variations is the sushi rice. This is a medium grained sticky white rice flavoured with vinegar, salt and sugar.
When you wrap the sushi rice in a nori (seaweed) with your favourite fillings you can create delicious and beautiful looking creations that your friends and family will love.
Ingredients

Instructions
- Cook the rice in a rice cooker or per instructions on the packet.
- While the rice is cooking add the ingredients for the sushi rice mixture to a small pot and head to a medium heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved and then remove from heat and set aside.
- Once the rice is cooked place in a large sushi rice bowl (hangiri or alternative) and pour the sushi rice mixture evenly over the top. Mix well to combine and then set aside.
- Slice, dice, chop and prepare your chosen fillings so they are ready to place into your sushi roll.
- Lay a piece of nori (seaweed) down flat on a sushi mat if you have one(or just use your hands), gently add and spread spoonfuls of sushi rice over the nori to create a thin bed of rice. The rice should go to both the side edges of the nori, but be sure to leave a 3cm gap at each end.
- Place a line from left to right of your chosen fillings onto the bed of rice in the centre. Then gently but firmly roll the nori and rice into a roll from the closest side to your body to the other end.
- Once rolled up tightly, place the roll on a chopping board and cut into slices.
- Serve with your choice of accompaniments and enjoy!
