Chicken

  • 4 boneless skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish (optional)
  • Teriyaki Sauce

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup mirin
  • 1/4 cup sake (or dry white wine)
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 teaspoon garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • Teriyaki Sauce Instructions
    1. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, mirin, sake, brown sugar, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
    2. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Simmer for 5-7 minutes or until the sauce thickens slightly.
    3. Remove from heat and set aside.
    Chicken Instructions
    1. Season the chicken thighs or breasts with salt and black pepper.
    2. In a large skillet or pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
    3. Add the chicken and cook for 5-6 minutes per side or until fully cooked and golden brown.
    4. Pour half of the teriyaki sauce over the cooked chicken, ensuring it's well coated. Reserve the remaining sauce for serving.
    5. Allow the chicken to cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, letting the sauce caramelize and coat the chicken.
    6. Transfer the teriyaki chicken to a serving platter.
    7. Drizzle with the reserved teriyaki sauce. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
