Beef Taco
Description
Tacos are a popular form the Mexican street foods and their popularity has spread around the world.
A Taco can have a hard shell often made from a corn based shell, or a soft flour based shell using a tortilla. In Mexico a soft shell is usually always used, whereas outside of Mexico hard Taco shells are used more often.
Taco's are a great snack and are often compared to Burritos. The main difference's are Tacos are folded not rolled, as such they are a little smaller than a Burrito and hold less fillings making them a great snack.
Meat Filling
Fillings (choose 3 - 4 fillings)
Accompaniments (choose 1 - 2 accompaniments, optional)
Instructions
- Heat a pan to a medium heat and add the oil, onion and garlic. Saute for 2-4 minutes and then add the Capsicum and saute for a further 1-2 minutes.
- Turn to a high heat and add the mince. Brown the mince for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the beef stock, oregano, paprika, cumin and cayenne pepper, Stir well to combine with the mince and saute for 30-60 seconds to cook the spices.
- Finally add the Tomatoes and continue to cook at a high heat for 1-2 minutes. Lower the heat and simmer until the liquid has evaporated, remove from heat and set aside.
- Add a layer of meat filling and your choice of other toppings (e.g. lettuce, tomatoes, cheese etc) to a tortilla along with an accompaniment (e.g sour cream or guacamole) of your choice. Then fold the tortilla in half (do not roll) and serve and enjoy!
